Your Favorite Restaurants Contest: A Love Affair of the Heart and the Stomach

In late March, as the pandemic hit us all, the Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd. launched two companion contests to help the severely impacted restaurant industry in both our hometown and local Hispanic communities.

At the time, the pandemic was shockingly new and we were all just beginning to find our way. We also found ourselves wanting to help residents and businesses within our local communities during this crisis.

Over the years, we have enjoyed and taken great pride in being part of the vibrant Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, especially our hometown of Arlington Heights — and particularly its wide variety of restaurants.

So, for ten weeks, we asked for nominations for your favorite Arlington Heights restaurants and held a weekly drawing, donating a $100 restaurant gift card each week to one lucky participant.

As the original contest unfolded, we looked around to see how we could expand our support. We decided to repeat the contest in our local Hispanic community, as we proudly represent many Spanish-speaking clients and wanted to spotlight even more small local restaurants.

Your nominations spoke from both the heart and the stomach! Voters shared stories of strong bonds with restaurant owners and staff, their favorite dishes, authentic flavors, and the special memories shared with loved ones in those places. One participant summed it up perfectly — their restaurant was “a little piece of happy.”

Meet Colby Costa: Our 2019/20 RF Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship Recipient

As is the way of 2020, Attorney Ron Wittmeyer met with Colby Costa — our 2019/20 R.F. Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship winner — via Zoom last month.

Competition for the scholarship was intense, with many outstanding young applicants. What set Colby apart was not just his academic and athletic achievements, but his exceptional leadership and dedication to community service.

Read how Colby organized a 5K race for the Wounded Warrior Project — while recovering from a severe leg injury sustained during his high school Homecoming football game. The injury altered his career plans, but he stayed true to his goal of giving back to his community.

No One Should Go Cold This Winter — Here’s How You Can Help

Have you cleaned out your closet lately?

We’re once again partnering with One Warm Coat to collect clean coats and jackets of all sizes for people in need — this is our third year supporting this nationwide nonprofit.

Our coat drive runs through December 18th. You can drop off donations at our contactless box outside our Arlington Heights office suite.

All collected coats will benefit amazing local groups:

  • PATH (Palatine Assisting Through Hope)

  • Journeys | The Road Home

Last year, thanks to your generosity, we delivered 85 coats. Let’s do even better this year!

Don’t have a coat to donate or prefer a contactless option? We also welcome monetary donations through the link below.

Expanding Our Services to Elgin

To Better Serve the Western Chicagoland Suburbs

“We’re thrilled to expand to the western suburbs with the opening of our newest office in Elgin, Illinois. Like the greater Kenosha area, we believe the Elgin region is underserved by experienced personal injury firms. We’re especially excited to serve our growing Hispanic community with support from Spanish-speaking attorney Cindy Scolaro and paralegal Marisela Nevarez.”
Ron Wittmeyer, Managing Attorney

As we settle into our new location, we’re joining the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and getting involved with the local community. We look forward to discovering everything Elgin and the beautiful Fox River region have to offer.
