Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd. Illinois Community Service Scholarship Winner

We are excited to announce the winner of the first annual Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd. Illinois Community Service Scholarship Winner: Celia Huerta!

Celia’s passion for and interest in her community was immediately apparent. The video explained Celia’s enthusiasm for community service in a creative, thoughtful manner. Join us in congratulating Celia! We are proud to help a young member of the Kingston community to continue her dreams of pursuing an education in nursing.

Here are a few words Celia had to say about receiving the scholarship:

Thank you so much. It’s an honor to have received this scholarship! I couldn’t have picked a better one to apply for. Community service is such an easy topic for me to talk about since I love helping people and making a change. To have been awarded a community service scholarship means all the effort I’ve put forward towards my community and others has came back to thank me. Thank you for picking me for this scholarship!

Finally, thank you to all of our applicants. Please check back next year to apply again.

R.F. Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship

The Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer Ltd. is pleased to be offering the 2022 R.F. Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship to recognize and reward students that do their best to serve their community. While our main focus is serving our clients, we believe that community service is admirable and not recognized as often as it should be. That’s why we started this scholarship to help students who have been serving their community to pursue a higher education that will equip them to continue to serve for years to come.

Help Arlington Heights Restaurants Contest

As the pandemic began to unfold, we wanted to support, in some way, many of our beloved local restaurants. Help Our Arlington Heights Restaurants was born from there. For ten weeks, when our readers submitted their choice of a favorite restaurant, they were automatically entered into a weekly drawing for a restaurant gift card. And it went so well; we expanded the contest to vote for their favorite Hispanic restaurant, reaching another set of our loved, local spots. Find out more about the chosen restaurants here.

NWSBA Networking Night

Our local Northwest Suburban Bar Association Women’s Law Committee held a clothing and toiletry drive for Women Veterans in October 2019. Specifically, the call was for work clothes. This quick little clothing drive was kept within our office, yet our team delivered many useful and lovely clothing items. Although a simple idea, we understand the committee’s drive was a much-appreciated success. For more information on this event, check out our NWSBA Networking Night page.

One Warm Coat Drive

In the past, we partnered with One Warm Coat to collect coats and donations to help keep members of our community warm throughout the colder months. With your help, we collected more than 200 coats over the past 2 years that were donated to men, women, and children in our community. We are excited to support our community through this initiative again this year. To learn more about how you can donate, visit our One Warm Coat Drive page.

Gerry’s Cafe

Our firm continues to be excited at the significant progress Gerry’s Cafe continues to make toward the goal of opening a local cafe that will offer competitive employment to exceptional individuals with intellectual disabilities, age 22 and older. In the summer of 2019, we held a $1,000 matching fundraiser supporting the cafe on Facebook. In just a little over two weeks, we collected $1140, which we matched for a total donation of $2280. Natalie Porter Griffin, one of the cofounders of the cafe, said it best, “Such joyful news! Thank you, everyone.”

The Rotary Club of Arlington Heights (RCAH) Santa Run 5K

The Rotary Club of Arlington Heights (RCAH) Santa Run 5K Run/Walk was a merry sight as 1500 Santas made their way through and around Arlington Heights, IL. This annual event raises funds to award grants to organizations that meet the needs of young, elderly, disadvantaged, and special needs within our communities. Support of our local food pantries in Arlington Heights and Palatine is one example of distributed funds.

Attorneys Ron Wittmeyer, Greg LaCost, paralegals’ families, and dear friends joined the fun on December 7, 2019.
