The Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer Ltd. is pleased to be offering the Annual R.F. Wittmeyer Community Service Scholarship to recognize and reward students that do their best to serve their community. While our main focus is serving our clients, we believe that community service is admirable and not recognized as often as it should be. That’s why we started this scholarship to help students who have been serving their community to pursue a higher education that will equip them to continue to serve for years to come
Our partnership with One Warm Coat has become a successful annual community drive. The dropbox outside our office is constantly filled with coats and jackets of all sizes. It is not unusual to find new, gently used, down-filled, business wear, or even the smallest of children’s coats overflowing the box. These coats are then warmly accepted by our local charities and quickly shared with those in need in our communities.
Our firm continues to be excited at the significant progress Gerry’s Cafe continues to make toward the goal of opening a local cafe that will offer competitive employment to exceptional individuals with intellectual disabilities, age 22 and older. In the summer of 2019, we held a $1,000 matching fundraiser supporting the cafe on Facebook. In just a little over two weeks, we collected $1140, which we matched for a total donation of $2280. Natalie Porter Griffin, one of the cofounders of the cafe, said it best, “Such joyful news! Thank you, everyone.”

The Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd. was proud to support the efforts of the Special Olympics in Arlington Heights. Arlington Heights is home to Ron Wittmeyer and the Law Offices of R.F. The rich variety of our local communities is something we value. So, when the pandemic started to dramatically impact our local restaurants, we looked for a way to support these well-loved establishments—the Help Arlington Heights Restaurant Contest was born from that idea. The contest encouraged everyone to vote for their favorite local restaurant each week. Each week, for ten weeks at the start of the pandemic, our firm purchased a $100 gift certificate from the voters’ favorite restaurant site that week. We then raffled off the $100 gift certificate each week to someone who had participated in the contest. It went so well that we also added a companion contest for our local Hispanic restaurants. All in all, we awarded 20 – $100 gift cards to some very lucky winners and helped in a small way to keep our restaurants in business!
The Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd. has been proud to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a nonprofit organization that focuses on funding and supporting research to find cures for childhood cancers. The foundation is known for its unique fundraising events where participants, often referred to as “shavees”, pledge to shave their heads in solidarity with children undergoing cancer treatment. These events raise awareness about childhood cancer and generate funds for pediatric cancer research. We were first introduced to St. Baldrick’s Foundation many years ago by our stellar court reporting service, Lexitas. Eddie Reeves of Lexitas along with Daniel and two of Eddie’s sons shaved their heads as part of the annual St. Baldrick’s fundraiser. We were so impressed with St. Baldrick’s we have supported them ever since.
We have had the pleasure of the Northwest Cultural Council’s work lining our building’s hallways for many years. We celebrated this “corporate gallery” with an artists’ reception on many Saturdays. It was not unusual to hear live music, poetry readings, or artists sharing their origin stories in making their art. These events were open to the public and were a beautiful way to showcase the creative part of our community.
Being personal injury attorneys, we are involved in helping our clients regain their health. We are advocates for a healthy diet and physical fitness. For these reasons, we are happy to support an organization like the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, where clients can go to rehab from their injuries and improve their overall fitness and health.
Our local bar association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, holds an annual mock trial for our area high school students. Student teams compete in practice trials before a presiding judge, complete with rulings on evidence and objections, with volunteer attorneys as the jury. The annual invitational includes the work of multiple presiding judges, courthouse personnel, attorneys who act as scoring judges and many more supporting volunteers, all working to give the students an authentic courtroom experience. Lawyers from our firm have participated in this exciting educational program since it’s inception more than 20 years ago.
