Larry A. Appelbaum

With more than 37 years of experience, Larry Appelbaum is a dedicated attorney who focuses his practice on catastrophic personal injury, construction litigation, professional negligence, automobile accidents, premises liability, and wrongful death cases. He’s passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after serious injuries and takes pride in guiding his clients through challenging times with care and determination.

Before joining our team, Larry gained a wide range of legal experience—from serving as a trial attorney with the Lake County Public Defender’s Office to working as staff counsel for major insurance companies. His background gives him a well-rounded perspective when advocating for his clients. Larry earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois. Along the way, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Insurance Law and published several articles on tort law and construction negligence. Larry is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois trial Lawyers Association, and the Lake County Bar Association.

Outside of work, Larry lives in Vernon Hills with his wife, Debbie and has two children and one grandchild. Larry loves staying active—whether playing basketball, spikeball, or pickleball. He’s especially known in the Vernon Hills community for organizing pickleball tournaments, with proceeds benefiting the Park District’s Family Scholarship Fund. In recognition of his efforts, Larry received the Vernon Hills Park District Community Service Award in 2024.

When he’s not on the court, you can often find Larry barbecuing or smoking something delicious, hosting impromptu driveway get-togethers with friends and neighbors.
