Congratulations to our 2026 Community Scholarship Winner, Betsy Jack!
My name is Betsy Jack and I recently graduated from Oswego High School in May, and I will be attending Spoon River College in Canton, IL in the fall. I am pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with the goal of becoming a teacher. Additionally, I will be participating on the college’s softball team, my favorite position is first base. I am looking forward to the start of the new school year and establishing a routine. A few additional details about me include that I am 6’0″ tall, I enjoy listening to music, and I like going to the beach.
When I first received the news that I had been awarded the scholarship, I was both grateful and thrilled. I felt a great sense of accomplishment knowing that my efforts in community service had been recognized. Since a young age, I have been actively involved in community service, whether it was picking up trash or serving lemonade on hot days. I am also grateful to my mom for encouraging my participation in these events and guiding me along the way. I sincerely appreciate the committee for acknowledging my dedication through their review of my essay. This scholarship will support my educational goals as I pursue college, where I aim to become an educator and help future generations of students succeed.
