Don’t Forget to Check Your Detectors
When daylight saving time ends, it’s a great reminder to check both your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors throughout your home.
Here are some quick reminders:
-
Test detectors monthly.
-
Make sure your carbon monoxide detector is UL-certified (look for the “UL” symbol on the package).
-
Illinois law requires that your detectors meet the latest safety standards.
For more information about carbon monoxide poisoning prevention, visit the CDC’s carbon monoxide page.

Watch Out for Deer on the Roads
Fall is peak season for auto accidents involving deer. These collisions can happen suddenly and may result in serious damage or injury.
To stay safe:
-
Drive cautiously, especially around dawn and dusk.
-
Use high beams when possible in rural or wooded areas.
-
Stay alert and scan the sides of the road.
For more prevention tips, read our recent blog post.
