Celebrate Heritage


On display in the Glenview Public Library in Glenview, IL is a photography exhibit celebrating Illinois’ prairie heritage. Running from January 11, 2018 to March 12, 2018, this is a worthwhile trip for nature photographer lovers. See the bountiful prairie grasses of the Illinois plains from a new perspective. This is a free event.


A Bicentennial Birthday Party


On February 19, 2018, the Fort Dearborn Evanston chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will host the “Happy Illinois Bicentennial Birthday Bash, 1818-2018” at the Evanston History Center in the Dawes House. Actor Terry Lynch will present the program focused on the grand history of Illinois. Admission is $10.

A Party in Palatine


On November 29, 2018, the Palatine Public Library will host a bicentennial birthday bash for Illinois. The program will include discussion on the early days in Illinois, historical fun facts, information about famous Illinoisans, and more.


Birthday Gala


Not to be outdone, the United Center of Chicago will be hosting a birthday gala on December 3, 2018, the official 200th birthday of Illinois. The gala is the pinnacle of the yearlong bicentennial celebration. Expect multi-media presentations, musical guests from a variety of genres, and celebrity hosts who will announce the Bicentennial Hall of Famers for the Hall of Fame archives.
