Make the 2018 Holiday Season Your Best

As soon as the holiday season begins, it seems to end. With so much happening in a few weeks, you can miss so much. But at the Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd., we recommend the following tips to make the most out of your holiday season. Reflect on what’s most important to you this season and enjoy.

Go Outside!

Many people go to cut down their own tree, but you can enjoy nature by yourself or with your family in the still, cold air of the winter. Illinois has many great state parks to walk through. Even close to Arlington Heights, both the Des Plaines River trail system and Busse Woods near Schaumburg allow you to enjoy nature with only a short car ride. Additionally, from Busse Woods, you can head over to Woodfield to finish any shopping you need to do!

If you are not the hiking type, try ice skating. Mount Prospect has created a new outdoor rink called Northwest Lights. The rink will be open from Nov. 22 to March 4 along Northwest Highway between Elmhurst Rd and Busse Ave. Open public skating will cost $5. And if you don’t have your own skates, you can rent a pair for $8. Of course, be safe when being on ice!

Step Away from Your Desk This Holiday Season

Most likely, you want to spend more time with your family and friends during the holidays. But for many people, the end of the year means more business. If you have a flood of work before the New Year, think about a good work/life balance. You may need to say no to finishing certain projects and if you schedule ahead of time, you should not be negatively affected by this change.

Bring Holiday Cheer to Your Kids

Everyone loves presents, but also take a break and work on something fun with the kids. Be creative and try these fun activities.

  1. Baking cookies or a gingerbread house
  2. Creating new ornaments for your tree or home
  3. Letting the kids string up the lights in their play room or your living room
  4. Creating a wreath
  5. Setting up a train
  6. Using their help to set the dinner table

Don’t Drink and Drive

It’s easy to overindulge in alcohol during the holidays. Moderation is key. Don’t let your well-being be affected.

For many people, they love to celebrate the holiday season with a few drinks that they may not have during the rest of the year. Beforehand, consider how the alcohol could mix with any medications you take.

Lastly, never get behind the wheel of your car when you’ve had too much to drink. Don’t become a statistic and enjoy this holiday season.

Have you best holiday season ever!
