Matthew L. Hess joined the Law Offices of R.F. Wittmeyer, Ltd., in 2014, and he focuses his practice on plaintiff’s personal injury cases.
Matthew graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law. While earning his law degree, Matthew served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Sandra Tristano of Cook County’s Third Municipal District and earned two CALI awards for obtaining the highest grades in both Trial Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Hess also received the Pro Bono Legal Participation Award for his service to the community and served as the Vice President of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Vice President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and as the Student Representative of the Youth Leadership Division of the Illinois State Bar Association.
Matthew won several awards as a member of the Moot Court Mock-Trial Team, and he represented juvenile clients as a 711 licensed Guardian ad Litem at the Southern Illinois Juvenile Justice Clinic. Hess was also a writer for the Electronic Discovery Database of the Sedona Conference based in Phoenix, AZ, and is the author of “To ‘Friend’ or Not to ‘Friend'”?: Ethical Considerations Regarding Social Media and How to Comply with the Model Rules of Professional Conduct in E-Discovery.”
Matthew has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Concordia University Chicago and is a long-time resident of Northwest Suburban Chicago. He enjoys reading about American history, cooking, playing the drums, and recently served as the Parliamentarian of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association.
